This guide to self catering gite
holiday accommodation in France contains the first of the Britsnet French
gite rental guides, that will eventually cover every département
in every region of France.
The first départements to be featured in-depth here, are
The Lot In the Midi-Pyrénées
region, and the Corrèze
in the Limousin region.
Less busy than their more famous neighbour the Dordogne, the Lot and
Corrèze, nevertheless, have a fine selection of gites... self
catering holiday rental accommodation, from grand houses, to converted
ancient barns and mills, to tucked away country cottages. You can also
get a real flavour of the départements, by using our guides
to many of the towns and villages. Including those for
les plus beaux villages de France - the most beautiful villages in France.
Travel Section
Whether you are planning to travel to France by air or by ferry for a
self catering gite holiday, it can sometimes be difficult to judge which
of the routes are the best choice. For instance, if you are not too fussed
where in France you want to end up, but would just like to fly somewhere
cheap... try finding which
airport in France is served by which airline and from where
in England you can fly from, without having to visit 12 different
websites. In our new travel information section, we detail where you can
sail to or fly to in France and from which port or airport in the UK you
can start from. Then we list
the ferry companies that sail those routes and the airlines
that fly those routes and, for when you are ready to book, we also
include links direct to that ferry company or airline.
Ryanair NEW Routes
No-frills airline Ryanair are listing new and re-opened routes to France.
These are:
Britsol to Bergerac and Pau; Birmingham to Biarritz, Dinard, Perpingnan
and Poitiers; London Stansted to Beziers (Cap d'Agde); East Midlands to
Grenoble/Lyon. Please check the Ryanair website for verification and start
dates. As always with airline schedules, make sure there is a flight to
your destination on the day you need it, before committing to travel plans.
