Oh dear... writing these guides the pressure is always to try say
something positive.
Problem is, it is not always possible Decazaville (named after
me lordship the Duc de Caza...?) sounds like it should be somewhere
in the Belgian Congo or the former French West Africa. You know
- "... the French Foreign legion, today routed the rebels
that took Decazaville from Government troops, Friday....".
In reality, once the coal mining centre of this region, Decazaville
grew rich on the toils of imported Polish immigrant miners of the
19th Century ... hence the slighlty over the top Town Hall. Which
is just about all the town has to say for itself.
Mind you, if you lived in the beautiful, but hilly, surrounding
Aveyron countryside, you would be glad of Decazaville on your doorstep,
for its market, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, shops, builders
merchants etc.
