Millau

Sorry, no pic... our photographer went there on a cloudy day!!

You will have heard tell of it, of course... you may even have seen some photos of it. Well nothing, but nothing you have seen or heard can quite prepare you, the first time you see Norman Foster's Millau viaduct for yourself. That is, of course, if you get there on a clear day. Choose a cloudy one and you will not see a thing, for it will be above the clouds. We kid you not.

The whole point of it is to by-pass the town of Millau, for those thousands of Parisians and Northern French who leave en masse for the Med every August. They say the viaduct saves 2 hrs on the journey. Pity, though. Because (without its traffic) Millau is a bustling doing sort of town, long famous for its fine leather gloves and worth a leg-stretch and a cool drink.
