On the River Vézère Le Bugue is on the way to...
well that's its trouble. You pass through it as you wind your way
up from the Dordogne River on the way to Les Eyzies and Perigeaux.
So well have they organised the road system, that no sooner have
you crossed the bridge, you are on the way out of town.
Which is a pity, because Le Bugue deserves a bit of a pit stop.
It is a lively little town and its Renaissance buildings with their
balconies lend it the air of a town that once thoroughly enjoyed
its Belle Époque!
Mind you, if we hadn't been spirited through Le Bugue, we would
not have had to try and hang a U-turn to go back, failed and ended
up on a little road running down to the river. Which is where we
came across the windmill. Came as a bit of a surprise, as you do
not generally expect to find a windmill virtually on the river bank.
