Do not visit St Leon sur Vezere unless you are prepared to risk
losing all reason. For go there on a warm and golden summers morning
(and most summer mornings are around here - warm and golden) and
you will lose all desire to remain living and working in England.
For, surely, if there was a village that conjured up an Englishman's
mind's eye idea of the ideal Vie en France, then here you
have it so neatly packaged, that it positively hurts.
Visit the Chateau de Clérans, the Chateaux de La Salle,
or the Chateau des Chabans, by all means. Or just sit in the shade
of the beautiful riverside Romanesque village church and gaze at
its reflection in the softly moving water ... and weep.
