Espagnac is one of those places that makes writing a guide like
this, in an area so rich in beautiful villages, so difficult. The
problem being, is how often can a first paragraph start off with...
"This is a gem of a village...".
Well... this is a gem of a village (OK, but this is the
second paragraph) in the Célé river valley.
Dominated by the 13thC Augustinian priory, the village is also
graced by the Augustin church and its picturesque 15thC belfry.
Not to be outdone in the ecclesiastical architecture stakes, check
out the Romanesque church as well. You can drive a circle route
round the Célé river valleys beautiful villages (such
as Marcilhac
and Cabrerets) - a
great day trip.
