The caves system of the Gouffre de Padirac, between Gramat
and St Céré,
are 103 metres underground.
Fear not... to get that deep a series of lifts whisk you effortlessly
underground.
Which is cool. Particularly in summer... an even 13° down there,
so take a cardie.
The guided tour starts with a boat trip along some 500 metres of
underground river, before you disembark for a walk, to view the
vast and extraordinary galleries formed out of the living rock.
The 94m high Grand Dôme, is the greatest of them all and worth
the effort alone.
