You cannot mention Lalbenque in France, without gentlemen of a
certain age going misty-eyed.
Make that gentlemen of a certain gourmet persuasion, that is, for
Lalbenque in the South Lot, is synonymous with the Truffle.
Lalbenque is famous for its truffle markets. The bidding is over
in a flash with many thousands of Euros changing hands. Needless
to say, the bars and cafés do a roaring trade during the
winter market truffle-tuesdays.
Knocked about a bit during the 100 Years War, Lalbenque has some
fine overhanging mediaeval houses.
