On the other bank of the River Dordogne from St.
Sozy, and very near the major town of Souillac,
Meyronne-sur-Dordogne perches proudly on top of it's small hill
beside the Dordogne.
Or, rather, the excellent hotel/restaurant La Terrasse does, housed
as it is, in the former fortified manoir. It is hard to imagine
anyone bothering to fight as you sip a pre-dinner summer aperitif
(why can't you get a Pimms in France?) on the terrace overlooking
the meandering River Dordogne and its majestic limestone cliffs.
There is no other commerce in Meyronne, to get in the way
of your enjoyment of the beautifully restored houses.
Check out the public weighbridge built in 1903... it is still in
use today! As is the Ecole. Don't forget the spectacular
subterranean chambers of Lacave, are just
down the road.
