The 'new town' of Rudelle, on was founded in 1250, the bastide
probably being built on the old Roman fort that guarded the strategic
Rudelle river ford on the Roman road from Figeac
to Gramat.
A charming and sleepy town, but do not pass it by as you race up
the modern N140. Take the small detour and check out the remarkable
fortified church.
Built above the nave is a crenellated fort and watchtower. Climb
it for the view.
Check out the carving of the Griffin's paw in the vaults keystone.
