A bit of a backwater in the Quercy National Park area near Gramat,
Thégra is included here, mainly because of a description
in English we came across in a tourist guide.
Fortifed House rebuilt in 1450 onwards and modernised
in the 17th Century
This place was old enough in 1450 to rebuild, and it was
modernised in the 17thC.
Kind of sums up many of the ancient houses in the Lot. They get
old, they fall down... the English buy them and restore them. Some
of them, the English and the French knocked down in various fights
(not always against each other!)... but here they are today, rebuilt
and modernised.
Anyway, Thégra also boasts a Historic Monument of a Church
and a pretty good restaurant... check them out... probably
in that order.
